NBI nabs 4 Koreans for alleged carnapping
Operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation have arrested four Korean nations for alleged carnapping.
Apprehended in an entrapment operation on Monday night, the Koreans were identified as Young Tae Youn, Byung Wook Ahn, Kim Min Dung, and Park Hyun, according to a press statement from the NBI.
The unnamed complainant alleged that Park, a tour guide whom she "normally allows" to use her SUV when they have Korean guests, failed to bring her other vehicle, a city car, to her residence in Makati City despite her asking him to do so.
Instead, Park allegedly said he would borrow the car until Monday, claiming he would use it to transfer to another condominium unit.
Later, Park allegedly called the complainant's partner to say he had been caught by persons he owed money to, and that they were demanding P1 million plus P360,000 in interest before the complainant could get her cars back. She was instructed to bring the money to Casino Filipino Manila Bay.
After Park and the others arrived at the place with the complainant's cars and Young Tae Youn took the marked money, the NBI made the arrests.
Investigation reportedly showed Park was in league with the other three arrested individuals.
After being brought to the NBI for booking procedures, they were charged with carnapping on inquest proceedings before the Office of the City Prosecutor in Manila, said the statement.
