Fire in Sampaloc, Manila reaches third alarm

Fire broke out in a residential area in Sampaloc, Manila on Thursday morning, according to a report on Balitanghali by Marisol Abdurahman.

The fire started from a house on Mabini Street around 10 a.m.

Firemen shortly raised the first alarm, but raised it to the third alarm later on.

Because the houses were old, made of light materials, and stood close to each other, fire quickly spread.

Fire trucks also had difficulty reaching the area since the road was narrow.

Some fire trucks also ran out of water to put out the fire.

More than an hour later, firemen were able to declare "fire out" at 11:21 a.m.

Residents were only able to save a few items from their burning houses.

Cita Famadico, one of the residents, could only look at her house which was built in 1918 and inherited from her grandmother.

She was grateful, however, that no one was hurt in the fire.

Manila fire (mabini st) left several families homeless.
