Napolcom OKs promotion of 1,491 police officers
The National Police Commission (Napolcom) has allowed Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa to fill up 1,491 promotional vacancies in the PNP.
In a press release, NAPOLCOM vice chairman and executive officer Atty. Rogelio Casurao said that the promotion is intended exclusively for police officers who passed the special promotional examination which was conducted on July 30 last year.
The Commission en banc has approved Resolution No. 2018-026, dated February 2, authorizing the PNP chief to fill up the said promotional vacancies.
Napolcom said that the special examination was "administered for the purpose of giving the 2,695 police officers who are about to be attrited due to non-promotion the chance to be promoted by acquiring the appropriate eligibility."
"This number represents those who were not promoted for at least nine (9) years as of December 31, 2017," the Commission said.
Out of the 1,497 passers, only 1,491 shall be promoted as some of them have either retired or passed away, while the other passers shall be promoted under the 3rd Level Promotion Program, said Casurao.
"The 1,491 police officers who shall undergo the special quota promotion process are distributed by rank, as follows: for Police Chief Inspector (3); for Police Senior Inspector (1); for SPO4 (8); for SPO3 (2); for SPO2 (3); for SPO1 (20); for PO3 (390); for PO2 (119); and for PO1 (945)," the Napolcom said.
Casurao, meanwhile, warned those who will fail to strictly observe and comply with the rules and regulations on the selection and appointment of PNP uniformed personnel will be dealt with accordingly. — MDM, GMA News
