Duterte flies over burning Manila Pavilion Hotel

President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday afternoon conducted an aerial inspection of the Manila Pavilion Hotel, which was hit by a deadly fire.

From Baguio City after the Philippine Military Academy graduation rites, Duterte flew to Manila and conducted the aerial inspection.

He was accompanied by Special Assistant to the President Secretary Christopher Go, who sent the photos to members of the media.

Three people have been confirmed killed while 14 were injured due to the fire. It started at past 9 a.m. and was still raging as of 5 p.m.

Authorities suspect that the fire started from the casino area or the mezzanine floor.

Based on latest updates from the Bureau of Fire Protection, the fire has reached the third floor of the hotel. Firefighters are preventing the fire from spreading to the upper floor. —Anna Felicia Bajo/ALG, GMA News
