2 killed, 6 hurt as crane falls in Pasay
Two persons died while six others were injured after a crane fell onto a building in Pasay City on Tuesday.
Southern Police District director Chief Superintendent Tomas Apolinario said one of the fatalities was Jonathan Diserdo, crane operator of Monocrete Construction, 32.
The other fatality was a male, but his name has yet to be determined.
The injured victims were:
Kumbo Mabinay, 24, security guard at the construction site;
Jay Ballon, 29, also a security guard;
Francisco Angcatan, 59, crane erector;
Melvin Yosores, 28, crane erector;
Elmer Sedol, 46, crane erector; and
Chinese national Liu Shen Xiu, 30
The victims were rushed to San Juan de Dios hospital.
Initial reports said there is an ongoing construction of STI Academic Center in the area at EDSA corner P. Celle Street when the tower crane fell and hit the Core Town building as the "pressure of its hydraulic cylinder went low."
