MMDA orders closure of 6 bus terminals
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday closed six bus terminals in Quezon City for their failure to comply with the "nose-in, nose-out policy."
According to a State of the Nation with Jessica Soho report by Susan Enriquez, the bus terminals ordered close were the DLTB Company, Alps, Lucena Lines, two terminals of Raymond Transportation, and Superlines.
"One year, almost one year po ang binigay namin sa kanila apparently po wala tayong nakikitang pagsasaayos nitong mga terminal na 'to," Bong Nebrija of the MMDA Special Operations Group said.
Some operators of the bus terminals tried to plead with MMDA officers while some passengers expressed dismay on the closure order.
"Kakukuha lang namin ng ticket," one passenger said.
"Bad trip, hassle po," another one added.
MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim said the closure would remain until "they (bus terminals) have complied with the nose-in, nose-out policy."
The "nose-in, nose-out" policy requires buses to enter terminals front first and leave the terminal front first. Buses are prohibited from using EDSA to maneuver their way in and out of their terminals - a major cause of traffic gridlock along the city's main thoroughfare. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BAP, GMA News
