Cellphone technician in Tondo arrested for airsoft gun possession

A cellphone technician was arrested by policemen on Tuesday night for carrying an airsoft gun in Tondo, Manila.

A report on Unang Balita identified the technician as Sonny Reyes, 47, a resident of Tondo.

Police said Reyes violated the election gun ban for carrying an airsoft gun, which is considered as a gun replica.

Reyes said in an interview that he just fixed the airsoft gun and was delivering it to its owner.

He said he did not know that an airsoft gun is covered by the election gun ban.

Authorities said at least 1,000 people have been arrested for violating the gun ban for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on May 14.
