NBI nabs man who bought cars in Rizal, Cavite using fake docs

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested a man who allegedly ordered two cars in Rizal and Cavite using falsified documents.

Suspect Junjie Banaag Alimparos — with aliases Jeffrey Tuazon Yap, Angelo Tuazon Yap, and Jeffrey Reyes Cruz — was apprehended by NBI agents at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 in Pasay City on Tuesday.

He was netted in an entrapment operation where anti-fraud operatives posed as car sales agents assigned to deliver the car unit he had ordered under an assumed name.

The arrest stemmed from car dealer Rizal Autozone Inc.'s report to the NBI, alleging that Alimparos ordered a Honda HRV unit from their Rizal branch and on May 25 emailed them seemingly legitimate documents, including a purchase order, and driver's and Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) licenses to support his bank loan application.

He used the name Jeffrey Tuazon Yap in purchasing the vehicle, according to a statement released by the bureau of Thursday.

It turned out Alimparos had also tried to carry out his "modus" at the car dealer's Carmona, Cavite branch, where he allegedly ordered a Honda CRV but asked it to be registered under the name Angelo Tuazon Yap, his supposed brother.

But photos of Jeffrey and Angelo Tuazon Yap on the IDs submitted by Alimparos showed they were all one and the same, the statement said.

Alimparos has undergone inquest proceedings for estafa through falsification of commercial documents or falsification of public documents before the Pasay City prosecutor's office, the NBI said. — MDM, GMA News
