Tons of trash wash up onto Baywalk area along Roxas Boulevard
Operatives from Manila's Department of Public Safety are facing a huge task of removing tons of trash big waves wash up onto the Baywalk area along Roxas Boulevard fronting the Manila Bay.
According Carlo Mateo's report on "Balitanghali" on Wednesday, the clean-up operation may take a few more days as tons of household and all sorts of trash keep piling up as strong waves in Manila Bay continue to push them back to shore.
Public safety operatives also had difficulty in cleaning up trash such as planks and pieces of wood and plastics due to submerged sharp and rusty metals, and broken glass jutting out from the seabed in the bay area.
Larger chunks of trash such as sofas and mattresses were also seen around.
In Tondo's Baseco Compound, tons of trash are also being washed up by big waves from Habagat, enhanced by prevailing weather disturbances (a tropical depression and a low-pressure area) affecting the country. —Maia Tria/LBG, GMA News
