CEAP-NCR launches 'Huwag Kang Magnakaw Month'


A Catholic educators group of the Philippines has officially begun its drive against corruption in government with the launching in the National Capital Region its "Huwag Kang Magnakaw (don't steal) Month." 

Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines -National Capital Region (CEAP-NCR) advocacy committee chairman Fr. Atilano Fajardo said the launching will take place at Don Bosco Technical College campus in Mandaluyong City.

In an interview on Church-run Radyo Veritas, Fr. Fajardo said the CEAP's initiative aims  instill into the minds of the students the values of human rights, integrity and generosity especially to those in need.

Also, Fajardo said that the "Huwag Kang Magnakaw Month" is hoped to raise social awareness among students studying at Catholic schools to prepare them for involvement towards genuine social change.

“Ngayong araw po ay nilo-launch ng CEAP-NCR advocacy commission na nagkataon ako din po ang head ito pong Huwag Kang Magnakaw Month, sinisimulan po natin sa lahat ng eskwelahan yung initiative po for honesty, integrity and generosity para po nang sa ganun ang bawat eskwelahan po ay patuloy na magbigay ng kanilang mga pwedeng ipakita na ang Catholic School pala ay talagang bahagi nung pagbabago ng bayan," Fajardo said.

Likewise he pointed out that social change should start from the self. 

At the launching, participants wore T-shirts with "Huwag Kang Magnakaw" inscription in front, as part of advancing the advocacy.

The CEAP-NCR is composed of 173 member Catholic schools from eight dioceses in the NCR.

On December 16, 2014, the the CEAP launched the "Huwag Kang Magnakaw" T-shirt drive. The phrase is inspired by the Seventh of the 10 Commandments, "Thou shall not steal." —LBG, GMA News
