City, provincial buses appeal for fare hike
City and provincial bus operators have appealed for a fare increase in light of the continuous oil price hike.
A News To Go report on Tuesday said that bus operators in the National Capital Region (NCR) have asked for a P1 increase for the first five kilometers for an ordinary bus, and a P1.20 hike for aircon buses.
Provincial bus operators, on the other hand, are asking for a P0.14 fare hike for their ordinary buses and P0.16 to P0.22 for their aircon buses, according to the report.
Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said it has not decided yet on the appeal of Alliance for Concerned Transport Organizations (ACTO) to raise the minimum jeepney fare from P9 to P12.
UV Express operators have also asked for a P2 increase per kilometer, the report said. — MDM, GMA News
