Joy Belmonte, Gian Sotto to face off vs. Chuck Mathay, Roderick Paulate for QC top posts

Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte and Councilor Gian Sotto on Thursday filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) for the posts of mayor and vice mayor respectively in the upcoming May 2019 polls.

According to a report by Tina Panganiban Perez on GMA News TV's Balitanghali, their fathers — former mayor and incumbent Representative Sonny Belmonte and Senate President Vicente Sotto III — were present during the filing.

The tandem will be running against the tandem of former QC representative Chuck Mathay and Councilor Roderick Paulate, who also filed their respective COCs Thursday.

Paulate is eyeing the post of vice mayor despite being charged with graft and falsification for allegedly hiring ghost employees in 2010.
