Fire hits residential area in Barangay Toro in Quezon City

At least eight houses were razed in Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City, according to a report on Unang Balita.

Based on the results of an initial investigation, the fire started with a spark of a live electric wire that fell on firewood in a house of a couple and this quickly spread to nearby houses.

The family's use of firewood was already a topic of a complaint raised by some residents in the area.

The owner of the house explained that it is cheaper for them to use firewood than LPG and assured that they put out the fire completely after cooking.

About 10 families were affected by the fire and the cost of damage was pegged at P200,000. One firefighter was injured in the incident. — BAP, GMA News
