MMDA to motorists, barangay officials: Keep Mabuhay lanes open
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority appealed to motorists and barangay officials to keep the Mabuhay lanes clear.
According to the MMDA, as Christmas draws near, around 72,000 additional vehicles are expected to use EDSA.
This is the reason why the Mabuhay lanes needed to be widened and cleared to serve as alternate routes, the government agency said.
The MMDA also appealed to residents to refrain from parking their vehicles on Mabuhay lanes.
It also urged barangay officials not to allow illegal parking on the said roads.
"'Pag sinabi na nga hong Mabuhay lane, dapat ho wala pong nakaparada diyan. Depende na lang po kung may mga resolution doon naman sa ilang inner streets na pinapayagan po 'yung one-side parking. Magkaibang bagay po 'yun," said MMDA spokesperson and Assistant Secretary Celine Pialago.
Five clearing operation teams of the MMDA are currently going around the 17 Mabuhay lanes as of posting time.
The Mabuhay lanes go through several cities in Metro Manila. —KG, GMA News
