MMDA assures quality of footbridge after workers caught using drugs
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) assured on Wednesday that the engineering standard was followed in constructing the steep footbridge along EDSA after four construction workers were caught using drugs.
“Don’t worry about the integrity ng bridge, porke't adik ang gumawa, kasi may standard specs naman daw ang engineering nun na sisiguruhing nasunod,” MMDA spokesperson Assistant Secretary Celine Pialago said.
Four construction workers of the infamous "footbridge to heaven" in EDSA-Scout Borromeo were caught engaging in a pot session at their barracks.
One of the arrested drug suspects, Jan Jan Rasonable, admitted that they were using drugs before going to work to keep them up during the night shift of their construction job.
Pialago said that the agency will check the infamous bridge, which they said was safe to use.
“The footbridge is still subject to inspection before opening by end of November,” she said.—Joviland Rita/ LDF, GMA News
