ADMU looking into reported rape on campus

The Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) over the weekend said it is now looking into a reported rape that supposedly happened on campus.

In a statement released on Saturday, November 24, the ADMU Commission on Anti-Sexual Misconduct and Violence said it is "shocked and outraged" by the supposed assault.

"Rape is a heinous crime and is a grave violation of a person's bodily integrity and human dignity. No one should be made to suffer such an act of sexual violence," said Mira Alexis Ofreneo, head of the Sexual Misconduct Task Force of the Loyola Schools.

This comes after an anonymous post on the ADMU Freedom Wall Facebook group claimed that a girl was sexually assaulted in a restroom in the university.

"We are taking the anonymous report seriously, and verifying the information starting with whatever leads are available from the post," said Ofreneo.

"If the report is confirmed, we will bear down on the perpetrators with the full force of law," she added.

Ofreneo called on the public to come forward and share any information which may lead to the resolution of the case.

"We reiterate that we do not tolerate any form of sexual violence on campus. If verified to be true, we condemn the act and those who without conscience perpetrated such an act," she said.

Ofreneo added that campus security has been "reinforced." — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
