Man’s body recovered from Pasig River
The body of a male victim was recovered from the Pasig River on Saturday by authorities, a police official said on Sunday.
Barangay officials received a report around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday that a man's body was found floating on Pasig River in Barangay Hulo in Mandaluyong City.
Police said the man is suspected to have been a victim of drowning.
"'Yung drowning incident, 'yung kahapon 'yun 11:30 [a.m.] sa Barangay Hulo. Nakita po 'yung katawan niya sa Barangay Hulo," Mandaluyong City Chief of Police Moises Villaceran told GMA News Online.
Villaceran said no signs of wounds or injuries were found on the body when inspected at a funeral home.
“'Yung body niya in-inspect sa funeral home. Wala pong signs of injury. Walang any abrasions na maaaring pinalo, na sinakal o nabaril o anything na wound. Wala,” Villaceran said.
He said the police was coordinating with nearby barangays to help identify the victim who was described as having a dark complexion, thin physique, and with a height ranging from 5 feet and 2 inches to 5 feet and 5 inches.
The body of the man, who was believed to be 18 to 23 years of age, has not yet been claimed by anyone, Villaceran said.
“Hinihintay lang po 'yung family…May nagsabi doon sa Barangay Poblacion na may nawawala silang kamag-anak. Pinapunta po ngayon sa funeral home,” he added. —KG, GMA News
