HPG to tow, investigate 9 abandoned cars in a casino parking lot
The Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) said on Wednesday that it will tow and investigate nine abandoned vehicles in a casino hotel's parking lot in Pasay City.
According to Raffy Tima's report on GMA "24 Oras," the security office of the establishment sought the help of the police regarding the forsaken vehicles which were almost covered in dust.
Authorities suspect that these vehicles have been mortgaged by their owners who have fallen into debt in the casino games.
The initial investigation of the PNP-HPG, however, showed that the plate numbers attached to most of the abandoned vehicles do not match the records, hinting that these may have been obtained through carnapping or rent-tangay scheme.
"'Yung iba rito carnapped, 'yung iba hindi naman talaga sa kanya, so kawawa 'yung nasasanglaan," HPG Director PC/Supt. Roberto Fajardo said.
The Southern Police District will coordinate with other casino hotels in the area in order to inspect other parked vehicles.
"Makikipag-ugnayan kami sa mga security officers para ma-check lahat ang mga parking kasi baka maraming naka-park na carnapped dito," SPD director PC/Supt. Eliseo Cruz said. —Dona Magsino/ LDF, GMA News
