Thousands join Black Nazarene thanksgiving procession

Around 70, 000 devotees on Monday joined the thanksgiving procession of the Black Nazarene in Manila, according to Cecille Villarosa's report on Unang Balita.

The thanksgiving procession started at 12 midnight from Plaza Miranda.

As the devotees jostled to get near the Black Nazarene, the carriers of the statue had a hard time moving the pedestal across the street.

Some devotees threw their white towels to the men riding the pedestal who rubbed them on the Black Nazarene and threw them back to the devotees.

The police estimated that the statue will be able to get back at Quiapo Church at noon.

Meanwhile, the police advised those who will join the Traslacion in January 9, 2019 not to bring pointed objects and backpack. Wearing ball cap is also prohibited.

“Huwag nang magsama ng bata. At tsaka yung mga may problema sa kalusugan, huwag nang sumama,” said Superintendent Julius Domingo, chief Manila Police District – Station 3. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
