MMDA: Collection of higher fines for illegal parking to start Monday
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will start to collect higher fines for illegal parking on Monday (January 7), a radio report said Sunday.
Super Radyo dzBB reported that from P200, the fine for illegally parked, attended vehicles will be raised to P1,000; and for illegally parked, unattended vehicles will be P2,000 from from P500 previously.
MMDA also raised fine for traffic obstruction to P1,000 from P150.
Also, motorists who will park outside their homes can be apprehended, except those who lived inside private subdivisions.
According to MMDA general manager Jojo Garcia, some local government units implement an ordinance that allows one-sided parking.
But Garcia pointed out that barangay officials should not consider this as a license to create their own "paid parking areas." —Joviland Rita/LBG, GMA News
