14-year-old boy tagged as suspect in alleged rape of 13-year-old girl
A 14-year-old boy has denied the allegation that he raped a 13-year-old girl, according to the report of Sandra Aguinaldo on Saksi.
The boy was interviewed by GMA News after getting the permission from his grandmother, who was with him at the office of a social worker in Baseco, Manila.
The boy denied that he raped the girl.
"Itong biktima at saka suspect eh magkabarkada," related MPD Chief PIO Police Superintendent Magno Manuel.
"Ito 'yung mga pagala-gala sa lansangan at nu'ng matapos sila, siguro napagod sila kakagala. Nagpahinga sila sa isang lugar sa isang bahay na sinamantala naman nung suspect na puwersahin itong biktima," he added.
The boy expressed regret over the incident. He has been accused of rape.
When asked for a statement, the boy said, "Huwag po akong gayahin at saka 'wag po silang layas. Hindi na po ako uulit."
PROOF OF AGE
The parents of the boys are both deceased and has been under the care of his grandmother together with his siblings.
The boy does not have a certified true copy of his birth certificate, which would prove that he is indeed 14 year of age. His grandmother only has a photocopy of his birth certificate.
"Kailangan naming mapatunayan na menor de edad siya bago siya i-discernment," said social worker Betty Ranolo.
The boy can also undergo a dental exam as a way to determine his dental age.
The discussion of the social worker, the police, and the boy's grandmother last for about an hour.
After which, they decided to place the boy under police custody until he undergoes a dental examination.
The 13-year-old victim, meanwhile, is under the custody of her family in Tondo.
Senator Panfilo Lacson said, in a statement posted on his Twitter account, "The 14-yr-old boy won’t be jailed. Nobody is proposing that. But he needs treatment and reformation. The 13-yr-old girl needs justice and compensation. The “next victim” needs protection." — BAP, GMA News
