Kin urges Ashley Abad's boyfriend, friends to cooperate in probe

As they seek justice for her death, the grieving family of 19-year-old Ashley Abad is urging her boyfriend and friends to cooperate in the investigation.

Jose Alfonso Abad, Ashley's father, lamented that her daughter's boyfriend has not communicated with them since she died after attending a party during the Sinulog Festival in Cebu

"If they want to help me I need their cooperation so that we can move on... if they’re not guilty they have to cooperate with us," Abad said in an Unang Balita report by JP Soriano on Monday.

Police said Ashley's boyfriend and friends have yet to provide any statements regarding the incident.

Authorities earlier said they already have "persons of interest" in the death of the teenager, but refused to disclose their identities pending the result of the investigation.

Meanwhile, Ashley's family is still waiting for the result of the autopsy to determine the real cause of her death. Initial medical records indicated that she had died due to drug overdose.

Ashley was laid to rest on Sunday afternoon, which was attended by her relatives and friends.

"Every morning I bring her to school, in the afternoon she calls me to pick her up, I will miss that. So painful for how many years, I've been taking care... inano ko si Ashley binantayan ko... it was just a split second nawala lang sa amin, so painful...
