Old residential building collapses in Binondo

An old residential building in Binondo, Manila partially collapsed on Wednesday night.

According to a report by Isa Avendaño-Umali in Super Radyo dzBB, the incident happened in Barangay 288 at around 8 p.m.

Debris was seen on the roadside.

No one was reported injured or killed among the over 20 families residing in the building as they were able to safely evacuate.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the collapse but they are considering the age of the structure as one factor.

According to a separate report in GMA's News TV Live, the building used to be the Binondo Maternity Hospital and it has stood for over five decades.

The owner of the building vowed to make sure that the debris will be cleared.
