2 dead, 6 injured in truck collision on C6 Road, Taguig City

Two people died and six others were injured after a truck plowed into six more vehicles on C6 Road in Taguig City on Saturday.

The Southern Police District reported that the truck, driven by 29-year-old Roman Rafanan Mariñas, was traveling southbound for Rizal, according to a report on GMA News TV's Balitanghali.

The truck's brake allegedly did not work before it collided with two jeepneys, one motorcycle, one car and two bicycles.

Taguig City Police chief Colonel Alexander Santos said the incident happened at 5:45 a.m.

Initial investigation revealed that the truck was overloaded with sand and was already ticketed at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX).

The truck then went straight and speedily on the descending part of C6 Road and rammed into the other vehicles.

Santos said many people were in the area where the incident happened, including those who were having their Zumba session.

The suspect and his two porters have been detained by the Taguig City Police, while authorities continue to coordinate with NLEX management for further investigation. —Jamil Santos/KG, GMA News
