‘Bukas Kotse’ gang leader, 2 members nabbed in QC
The suspected leader of a "Bukas Kotse" gang and two alleged members were arrested in Tomas Morato, Quezon City, a police report said Thursday.
Quezon City Police District director Police Brigadier General Joselito Esquivel Jr identified the suspects as Kim San Juan, alias Kimpoy, 21, leader of the Kimpoy Bukas Kotse Gang; Emmanuel Cabano, 18; and David Sumampong, 18, all of No. 77, Scout Tuazon, Barangay South Triangle.
According to the report, Paul Nieven Gullod, 28, parked his Nissan Cefiro in front of a bar at Scout Madriñan corner Tomas Morato around 4 a.m., April 17. Cabano appeared and assisted him in parking his vehicle.
At around 5 a.m., the victim returned to his vehicle and discovered that the door on the driver side had been opened and his belongings, including P98,000, was missing.
The victim immediately reported the incident to the Barangay Protection and Security Office (BPSO) of Barangay South Triangle and asked for a copy of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the incident.
The footage showed the suspects breaking into the car and taking the victim's money. They fled towards Tomas Morato.
The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Kamuning Police Station (PS 10) inside a hotel on Scout Lascano in Barangay Laging Handa.
Recovered from the suspects was P94,000 in cash.
Esquivel said the Kimpoy Bukas/Basag Kotse Gang gained notoriety in Kamuning are because of their modus operandi of posing as parking attendants or barkers. — BM, GMA News
