Foreigner sits on hood of Grab car after booking cancellation

A Grab driver canceled the booking of a foreigner for not making it to the pickup point on time last Friday, according to a report by Lei Alviz on GMA News' Unang Balita on Wednesday.

The foreigner, who seemed angry at the cancellation, could be seen in a video sitting on the hood of the car.

He climbed on the hood of the car, which was traversing EDSA in Mandaluyong City, and got off after a few minutes.

The foreigner even tried to pry open the car door.

According to the video uploader, the foreigner was supposed to be a GrabShare passenger. The driver of the Grab car waited for five minutes but the foreigner did not show up on time, so his booking was canceled.

But the foreigner showed up after the driver left the pickup point. He ran after the car and tried to open the door to enter the vehicle.

The driver explained the policy, but to no avail. The foreigner did not seem to be listening to the driver.

No one was hurt and the Grab driver remained calm throughout the incident.

In a statement issued by Grab Philippines, the maximum waiting time for GrabShare passengers is three minutes.

The policy is clearly stated in the notification shown in the Grab App once the booking is confirmed by the driver.

Based on Grab's system, the driver stayed longer than the prescribed waiting time. So, the driver had the right to cancel the booking.

The transport service said it does not tolerate the behavior shown by the foreigner and that they already suspended his account. —BAP/KG, GMA News
