Cayetanos leading race to gain Taguig posts
Former Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano and his wife, incumbent Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, are leading the congressional race for the two districts of Taguig, based on partial results received by the city board of canvassers on Monday night.
According to an update from GMA News' Darlene Cay, the transmission of election returns was at 89.72 percent as of 9:26 p.m.
Based on the latest tally, Alan Peter leads the race for congressional seat as Taguig's first district with 71,807 votes.
His wife, Lani, who is gunning for representative of Taguig City's second district, also leads her own race with 103,259 votes.
Alan Peter's brother, Lino, meanwhile takes the lead in the mayoralty race in Taguig City with 157,956.
Among those running for Vice Mayor, reelectionist Ricardo Cruz Jr. had the most votes at 144,315. — Margaret Claire Layug/BAP, GMA News
