Law student who lost her legs in bar 2010 exam blast reelected

Raissa Laurel, who lost both her legs during the Bar exam bombing in Manila back in 2010, has been reelected as city councilor of Metro Manila's San Juan City.

Garnering a total of 15,057 votes, Laurel placed third in the First District race for councilor based on the partial and unofficial results from the 100% election returns.

In a Facebook post, she said, "Una po sa lahat, ako po ay taos-pusong nagpapasalamat sa inyong suporta. Patuloy po nating ipagdasal ang ating mahal na Lungsod na magkaisa na po ang lahat."

Laurel was among more than 40 people who were injured in the blast that rocked the area near the De La Salle University campus where 5,012 law graduates were taking the Bar examinations in September 2010.

She was just a law student from San Sebastian College back then. —Kaela Malig/LBG, GMA News
