Cainta police arrest suspect in killing of female Grab driver
The suspect in the gruesome death of a female Grab driver has been arrested on Wednesday evening, Bam Alegre reported on Unang Balita.
Paolo Largado is the suspect in the killing of Maria Cristina Palanca, the Grab driver who was found dead inside a condominium unit in Cainta, Rizal.
Largado was supposed to meet his girlfriend in Pasig City on Wednesday evening. He did not know that police operatives were waiting for him at the meeting place.
Cainta Police chief Colonel Alvin Consolacion said they chased the suspect from Lucena, Quezon where he pawned the vehicle and when he proceeded to Pasig City.
The police was able to determine the whereabouts of Lagardo through the CCTV at the condo unit last Thursday where footage showed him leaving the place with the victim's vehicle.
After Largado was arrested, he tried to escape and he even shaved his head.
The police also found a sachet suspected to contain shabu inside his wallet.
Largado said he knew the victim as he was once her passenger and that they were both involved in the illegal drug trade.
He added that he thought that Palanca was going to shoot him so he defended himself and accidentally killed her.
The relatives of Palanca denied Largado's story.
"Ang sister ko is 45 years old with diabetes. Actually, namamaga paa. San kukuha pera pambili ng baril? Where will she get the drugs na bebenta kay Paolo?," said Palanca's sister.
According to the victim's family, if Palanca died last Thursday then it it was Largado who was texting them.
The funeral of Palanca is set on Friday. — BAP, GMA News
