Ex-Manila exec on Isko's P5-M daily bribe exposé: Baka binibiro lang siya ng kausap niya
The former city administrator of Manila finds unbelievable Mayor Isko Moreno's claim that a P5-million daily bribe has been offered to him to drop his campaign against illegal vendors.
Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV, Atty Ericson Alcovendaz said he could not see how a group of vendors could raise P5 million daily.
"Una sa lahat pag-iisipin natin yung P5 million a day. Parang di ko ho lubos maisip kung ilang vendor ho iyon. Kung 10,000 vendor, mga P500 a day yung ibibigay ng vendor. Parang hindi kayang ibigay ng vendor yun. Hindi realistic," he said.
The former city official said Moreno's informer may be joking. "With all due respect to Mayor Isko Moreno, baka binibiro lang siya ng kausap niya," he said.

Alcovendaz insisted that the former city administration did not tolerate illegal vendors, but admitted that former mayor Joseph Estrada would sometimes grant the appeal of poor vendors whose items were confiscated.
"Isosoli naman ho ni Mayor Erap [yung mga nakumpiskang paninda]. Kaya lang ho nagiging cycle na kasi after two or three days nandun na ulit sila, nagtitinda na ulit sila," he said.
Alcovendaz blamed this cycle to the fact that the government, both national and local, "cannot offer a better alternative to our citizens." —KBK, GMA News
