Hontiveros commends Isko, Vico for early accomplishments
Senator Risa Hontiveros on Saturday commended first-time mayors Isko Moreno and Vico Sotto for their "hard work" and accomplishments during their first few weeks in office.
"Wala yan sa term extension," Hontiveros wrote in a tweet. "Kung magtatrabaho ka, marami kang magagawa."
The lawmaker, who became a senator in 2016, recalled her own accomplishments throughout her first three years in Congress.
"In my first 3 years, passed 13 laws, like the Expanded Maternity Leave, Enhanced Anti-hospital Deposit, Mental Health & Safe Spaces Acts," said Hontiveros.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto have been making headlines since they were elected during the 2019 midterms.
Moreno, who was formerly Manila's vice mayor, attracted the public's attention as he spearheaded several clean-up efforts and anti-traffic drives, including the removal of illegal street vendors in the capital's busiest areas.
Sotto, who pushed for unity in the government and an end to contractualization shortly after toppling a political dynasty, likewise earned praise for his efforts. — Margaret Claire Layug/DVM, GMA News
