QC mayor Belmonte conducts inspection at Cubao market

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Wednesday conducted a "surprise" inspection at the Murphy Public Market in Cubao.

According to the QC public information office, the inspection was in response to the Department of Interior and Local Government's (DILG) directive to clear roads and sidewalks.

President Rodrigo Duterte, during his fourth State of the Nation Address on July 22, 2019, ordered the DILG to spearhead efforts to reclaim all public roads being used for private purposes.

Tha Quezon City Public Affairs Department shared almost an hour-long live video of Belmonte's inspections at the Murphy Public Market on Tuesday.

She was seen speaking to several stakeholders in the area about the plan to clear the sidewalks and roads, as well as making arrangements for a possible dialogue with vendors.

The QC public affairs also said in the post that Belmonte has formed a task force that  "addresses the complex problems hounding the city's public and private markets." — Margaret Claire Layug/MDM, GMA News
