Mayor Isko leads closure of liquor stores along Taft Avenue

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Thursday evening led the closure of four liquor stores located near schools in Sherwood, Taft Avenue.

According to a report in GMA's Saksi, Moreno himself posted closure orders on establishments that were selling alcoholic beverages. The stores were located near schools.

Moreno canceled the permits of all liquor stores within the 200-meter radius of schools in the city.

This liquor ban was indicated in two of Manila City's ordinances, the report said.

Moreno said the closure order may still be lifted but store owners should vow not to include alcoholic drinks among the items that are on sale. — BAP, GMA News
