Mayor Isko Moreno asks motorists to avoid Roxas Blvd, R10 due to heavy traffic

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno advised truck drivers and motorists to avoid Roxas Boulevard, Radial Road 10 (R10), and other roads leading to the Pier area on Friday due to the heavy traffic congestion.

In a Facebook post, Moreno said, "Ipinakiki-usap po namin sa mga motorista na huwag na munang tangkain na dumaan sa Roxas Blvd, R10 at iba pang mga pangunahing kalsada patungo sa Pier sa araw na ito."

"Sa mga trucker naman, kung wala pa kayo sa Maynila, iwasan na muna ang inyong byahe patungong pier," he added.

The traffic is expected to last until later in the evening, said Moreno.

"Inaasahan po namin na tatagal ang trapikong ito hanggang mamayang hapon, at maari ring abutin hangang mamayang gabi," he said.

He explained, "Ayon sa Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), ang masamang kalagayan ng panahon ang dahilan ng pagbagal ng processing sa loob ng pier kung kaya bumagal ang paglabas ng mga truck mula sa loob ng South Harbour at MICT simula pa kahapon."

In an interview with Dobol B on News TV, PPA General Manager Jay Santiago said that they have instructed the operator of South Harbor, the Asian Terminals Incorporated, to withhold from making any new bookings for the day and only entertain those with previous appointments already to help the congestion.
