Skyway coping beam falls on NLEX, causes traffic

The coping beam of Skyway Stage 3 fell on a portion of the North Luzon Expressway before dawn on Sunday, causing traffic, according to a report by Rod Vega on Dobol B sa News TV.

The beam fell on the portion of NLEX-Camachile in Quezon City.

Two lanes of NLEX going to Balintawak were affected.

NLEX Corporation said the coping beam detached from its hook during installation.

As a result, traffic slowed down at the Balintawak/Camachile area.

"NLEX traffic and safety teams are on site to manage the traffic situation and ensure motorists' safety," the company said in a statement.

It added that the company is coordinating with Skyway management and the contractor regarding the retrieval of the coping beam.

NLEX Corporation apologized to motorists for the inconvenience as a result of the incident.

The coping beam has been removed as of 11:50 a.m., the company said.

Two lanes previously blocked by the beam are now passable.
