Cop arrested in Muntinlupa buy-bust operation

A police officer was arrested on Monday during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa City.

Authorities on Tuesday identified the policeman as Patrolman Leo Valdez, assigned at the Regional Mobile Force Battalion of the National Capital Region Police Office.

Operatives from the Philippine National Police -  Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP - IMEG) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) conducted the operation at Marquez Compound after obtaining information that Valdez was involved in using and selling of shabu in the area.

Seized during the operation were P1,000 marked money and four transparent heat-sealed plastics containing suspected shabu.

Authorities said Valdez entered the police force in 2007 but had gone AWOL in 2014 due to alleged drug use.

Valdez was restored in service in 2017. He was recently caught on video using suspected shabu, according to authorities.

Valdez was brought to the custody of PNP - IMEG for further investigation and proper disposition for filing of administrative and criminal charges.  —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
