Three LRT-2 stations shut down for nine months, says LRTA

Three stations of LRT-2 will be shut down for nine months, Light Rail Transit Authority spokesperson Atty. Hernando Cabrera said on Friday.

The three stations of LRT-2 will be closed after two rectifiers got damaged in a fire that hit the line on Thursday.

"Ang mga station na walang operations na aabutin nga ng nine months, definitely, Santolan, Katipunan, at saka Anonas," Cabrera said in an interview in Super Radyo dzBB.

He said the Anonas station could be reopened earlier than the two other stations.

"Malaki 'yung damage and 'yung na-damage na part are really big parts na imported po sila. Mayroon po tayong mga spare pero hindi po kakayanin 'yung mga pangangailangan," Cabrera added.

The LRTA is looking to resume partial operations from Recto to Cubao and vice versa by Monday or Tuesday.

Cabrera said that the management came up with the timeline considering the processes needed for the procurement, importation, and installation of the materials needed for the repair of the train system.

"We will be doing our best na mapaikli pa ito," he said.

The management pegged the minimum cost of repair at P430 million. —Dona Magsino/NB, GMA News
