Bomb threat sent through SMS grips PNU, disrupts classes –official
A bomb threat sent through text message on Thursday morning caused fears among students and faculty members of the Philippine Normal University (PNU), but classes were not suspended, one of its school administrators said.
In a Dobol B sa News TV interview, Dr. Bert Tuga, Vice President for Finance and Management, said a faculty member received the SMS message from an unknown number at around 9 a.m.
"May mga bomba na naitanim sa loob ng pamantasan. Puwede itong sumabog kahit anong oras ngayong umaga," the message reads.
PNU officials immediately called the Manila Police District, which alerted the bomb squad.
While the threat did not warrant suspension of classes, students and faculty members were instructed to proceed to the main quadrangle while the bomb squad sent in by the MPD was inspecting the campus.
At 11:14 a.m., Tuga announced "there is nothing suspicious," following the results of the initial inspection of authorities.
Classes and other university activities, the school administration announced, were to resume after the initial inspection. —Jamil Santos/LBG, GMA News
