Culling ops in Tandang Sora, QC to end within the week, says barangay head
The African swine fever in Barangay Tandang Sora in Quezon City may soon be contained, with culling operations expected to be finished within the week.
Barangay Captain Marlou Ulanday told GMA News that only 10 of the total 78 hogs have yet to be culled.
Ulanday said there has been no reported resistance from hog owners in his barangay.
He called on hog owners to cooperate with authorities.
“Makipagtulungan po tayo sa barangay or sa city government para maayos na natin problema sa ASF,” Ulanday said.
On Wednesday, the Luzon Philippine Association of Hog Raisers Inc. complained of the government’s delayed financial assistance for affected hog raisers.
But Ulanday said this is not a problem in Quezon City.
“Si Mayor Joy (Belmonte) naman ay mabilis din naman ang aksiyon niyan e. Minsan, 2 days nabibigyan na rin kaagad yung financial sa kanila,” Ulanday said. — Tina Panganiban-Perez/RSJ, GMA News
