Lahat mabaho, lahat marumi: Caloocan, Tondo residents complain over water interruptions
Several residents in Tondo and Caloocan expressed dissatisfaction at their water supply and water quality, as concessionaires Maynilad and Manila Water scheduled several interruptions this month.
"Umaasa kami sa wala. Para kaming mga zombie na, ano, lahat mabaho. Lahat marumi yung banyo...yung pinggan," Anita Lopez, a resident of Brgy 128, in Tondo, said, during an interview with Lei Alviz's "24 Oras" report.
Meanwhile, Rosalie Decolongan from Brgy. 95, Caloocan, said that they did not have water for the entire afternoon.
"May apo ako, may maliliit akong apo, tignan niyo po, ayan o, wala nang damit yung apo ko," she said, referring to the clean clothes that her grandchildren could have worn, had there been no water interruptions.
Both Brgy. 128 and Brgy. 95 get their water supply from Maynilad Water.
Maynilad explained that these were "isolated cases, because the company generally followed their water service schedules."
"Kaunti na lang ang areas na may delay. Halimbawa itong Barangay 128 [Tondo], mayroon po lang nagyaring emergency leak repair sa lugar," Maynilad corporate communication head Jennifer Rufo, said
Meanwhile, other residents in Caloocan are experiencing another problem.
Some of them claim that water service comes late, and when it does, the water they get is discolored and it has a weird smell.
"Brown [ang tubig]. Yun' bang parang puro kalawang," Grace Ismael, the Chairman of Brgy. 95, said, describing the state of the water supply in her area.
Tess Aristoza, a resident from Brgy. 99, agreed with Ismael as she said that the residents in her area allow the discolored water to drip until it turns clear.
"Mayroon kaming tinatawag na 'water hammer effect', nakakayod yung loob ng pipe kaya mayroon talagang slight discoloration 'yung unang balik ng supply," Rufo explained. —Angelica Yang/LDF, GMA News
