Bus terminals, NAIA ready for expected influx of passengers a day before Undas
Bus terminals and the country's main international airport on Thursday are bracing for the expected rush of passengers heading to the provinces, a day before All Saints’ Day on Friday.
According to Mariz Umali’s report on GMA News’ Unang Balita, passengers are expected to flock to the Araneta City bus station in the afternoon or evening.
Personnel from various government agencies are already on site to offer assistance to ensure safety and convenience in the station.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has been conducting alcohol tests on drivers using a breath analyzer, while the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) have also put up public assistance desks in the area.
Police are also visible in the terminal.
The Philippine Red Cross are there to offer medical assistance including blood pressure checks and first aid treatment.
Quezon City government’s task force for transport and traffic management are also at the terminal to bust possible scalpers.
At the Cebu South Bus Terminal in Cebu City, some passengers were confused by the management's newly implemented “no ticket, no entry” policy, Jonathan Andal reported on Unang Balita.
Passengers jammed the entrance of the terminal because they have to buy first their ticket to enter the station. Usually, passengers would purchase their tickets after they have already boarded the bus.
This measure was for security concerns, to ensure that the persons who are entering the terminal are really passengers.
Meanwhile, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 where passengers have started gathering, help desks are activated in strategic locations to assist passengers, Bam Alegre reported on GMA News’ Unang Balita. — Joviland Rita/BM, GMA News
