PCG chief inks circular rescinding double-berthing on Pasig River
Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) commandant Admiral Joel Garcia on Tuesday inked a memorandum circular on single berthing on the Pasig River that repeals a double berthing circular that was issued in 2007.
The PCG said barges and other sea craft double-berthing on the river will be given three days after the issuance of circular to move their vessels.
The memorandum circular was in line with the directive of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade on rehabilitating the Pasig River.
"Meron hong agency order ang Philippine Coast Guard noong 2007. Ang sabi ho, pwedeng mag-double berthing. Kagabi, together with Joel Garcia, I revoked that order na binabawal ho namin 'yung double berthing," Tugade said in a press statement.
The PCG said non-compliance would result in the towing of involved sea crafts. — BM, GMA News
