NAIA still partially operational; hundreds of passengers wait at terminals

Hundreds of passengers were seen at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 past 4 a.m. on Tuesday to await word if their flights will push through, according to a report by Corinne Catibayan on GMA News' Unang Balita.

The NAIA is still on partial operations after it closed on Sunday until Monday noon following the phreatic eruption of Taal Volcano in Batangas.

Many flights were canceled since Sunday due to the situation.

On Tuesday, a number of flights were also canceled.

One passenger, Margaret Wickins, endured 29 hours of travel from Vancouver, Canada to head to Manila. Their plane however had to go back to Taipei after circling Manila for an hour since it could not land at the NAIA runway.

Wickins was finally at NAIA on Tuesday but awaiting word when she could rebook her flight to her home province Zamboanga.

Other passengers who were booked on Tuesday flights however did not experience any problem and were at NAIA early awaiting their boarding time. —KG, GMA News
