FDA warns public vs. unregistered ‘healing oil’ products

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Monday discouraged the public from buying El Shaddai healing ointments, which are not tested and registered.

In an advisory, FDA said products El Shaddai Menthol Healing Oil and El Shaddai Sampaguita Olive Oil have not been issued Certificate of Product Registration.

"Thus, the Agency cannot guarantee their quality and safety. The consumption of such violative products may pose potential danger or injury if administered," FDA said.

“..The public is advised not to purchase the aforementioned violative products and to be vigilant against it,” it added.

GMA News Online asked the Catholic charismatic group El Shaddai if the product is connected with them, but has yet to get a response.

Based on the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009, the manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, transfer, promotion, advertising or sponsorship of health products without proper authorization from FDA is prohibited.

The FDA also advised concerned establishments or entities not to distribute El Shaddai Menthol Healing Oil and El Shaddai Sampaguita Olive Oil until they have obtained permits.

Establishments or entities that will violate this will be sanctioned, FDA warned.

It also asked all local government and law enforcement agencies “to ensure that these products are not sold or made available in their localities or areas of jurisdiction.” —LDF, GMA News
