Police officer shot dead in Manila restaurant

A police officer was shot dead by a gunman inside the restaurant owned by his brother in Malate, Manila, Vonne Aquino reported on Unang Balita.

Police Staff Sargeant Roel Orihuela was watching TV inside a restaurant on Arellano Ave. corner Don Pedro Street in Malate, Manila around 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Based on an initial investigation, the two suspects onboard a motorcycle who stopped in front of the restaurant. One the suspects entered the establishment, approached the Orihuela and shot him.

A sibling of the victim said the suspects were wearing bonnets and their faces were covered.

The family said the Orihuela does not have enemies and they do not know if he received death threats.

Orihuela, who has just spent a few days with his brother, received a directive to report to Camp Crame.

Orihuela is a member of the PNP Special Action Force and is assigned in Mindanao. — BAP, GMA News
