Traffic adjustments due to Skyway 3 works to affect Balintawak Interchange —MMDA
Lane closures and traffic adjustments will take effect on Monday night in the Balintawak Interchange due to the construction of the Skyway Stage 3, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced.
“We suggest that motorists plan their trips accordingly because of the possible delays caused by the construction works, especially on Wednesday and the succeeding days,” MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia was quoted as saying in a press briefing.
The MMDA said that starting 11 p.m. Monday, a one-lane closure will be implemented on EDSA Balintawak going to the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) to give way to the construction of a vertical bridge support under the EDSA bridge.
The MMDA advised motorists with light vehicles going to NLEX and Monumento to take the Balintawak Interchange Ramp going to Cubao and make a U-turn after Cloverleaf Market.
Two lanes on the EDSA Bridge going to Cubao will also be closed for the construction of an interconnection flat form tower, the MMDA added.
They said that light vehicles coming from Monumento via EDSA before reaching Balintawak should turn right to A. De Jesus Street and then left to C3.
Additionally, three northbound lanes and one southbound lane will be closed for eight nights from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting March 1 until March 9.
The MMDA advised affected motorists to take the following alternate routes:
Light vehicles going to NLEX and Monumento may take the Balintawak Interchange Ramp going to Cubao and make a U-turn after the Cloverleaf Market going to NLEX.
Light vehicles going to Novaliches and NLEX may take the zipper lane at the left immediately before the construction site.
Light vehicles from NLEX going to Manila or Caloocan may take the Balintawak Interchange Ramp going to Monumento via EDSA then turn left to A. De Jesus Street then left to C3.
The MMDA said construction activities will last 20 days.
