Taguig-based Deloitte Philippines confirms employee tested positive for COVID-19

Taguig-based consultancy and financial advisory firm Deloitte Philippines on Saturday confirmed that one of its employees has tested positive for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“We confirm that a colleague in our Deloitte Philippines office has tested positive for COVID-19,” Deloitte said in a statement.

The firm is based in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City.

Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano on Saturday said the Deloitte Philippines employee who tested positive for COVID-19 is not a new case but is one of the two latest cases earlier confirmed by the Department of Health (DOH).

"We confirm that the case mentioned in the Department of Health press conference on March 6, 2020 is that of the coronavirus (COVID-19) case in the City of Taguig. The individual is employed at Deloitte Philippines located at the Net Lima Plaza in Bonifacio Global City," Cayetano said in a statement.

The DOH earlier announced that the two new cases of COVID-19 in the country are a 48-year-old Filipino male with a travel history from Japan and a 62-year-old Filipino male in San Juan City. The latter case had no travel history abroad but has frequently visited a Muslim prayer hall and has hypertension and diabetes.

“The colleague is currently in hospital receiving treatment and further tests, and Deloitte is supporting the colleague and family in every way we can,” Deloitte said.

“The health and safety of our people, our clients and our community is our highest priority, and our immediate response has been to take all necessary actions to manage the situation,” it added.

The company said it continues to comply with the instructions and directions from the DOH.

“All necessary actions were promptly taken to inform those who might have come into contact with the colleague for the appropriate checks and provide any possible form of support,” Deloitte said.

“We continue to monitor and manage the COVID-19 situation in order to respond as necessary,” it said.


In a statement posted on its Facebook page, BGC said it is working closely with the management of NEO Buildings — the building where Deloitte Philippines is a tenant — the city government of Taguig, and the DOH to ensure all protocols are followed to manage the situation.


"Frequent sanitation and disinfection of BGC malls and buildings, public transportation utilities, parks and common areas are being conducted, as well as temperature checks in entrances," it said.
