Binay suspends cinema passes for Makati seniors
Makati Mayor Abby Binay on Friday suspended the free cinema passes of Makati senior citizens in accordance with social distancing directives amid the coronavirus disease 2019.
According to John Consulta's report on 24 Oras, the suspension was to prevent the senior citizens from being exposed to the virus as they are considered at high risk of infection.
Meanwhile, Makati City Hall personnel has disinfected several schools in the city.
Aside from comfort rooms, authorities also sanitized door knows, hand railings, and other objects frequently touched by students and school officials.
Inside the Makati Police, all are required to undergo a thermal scan and those without face marks are prohibited from entering. Individuals were also required to apply alcohol before entering the offices.
Visitations are also prohibited to prevent the spreading of the virus within the compound.
Due to this, he deputy chief of Makati police has urged visitors to write letters to be given to inmates as an alternative.
"'Yung mga nag-papaabot ng kanilang mga pagkain, nilalagyan nalang namin ng tag. Kung may mga messages naman sila pwede naman nilang isulat sa mga papel and then binibigay natin sa mga nasa loob," Police Lieutenant Colonel Nicolas Piñon said.
The Makati City Hall, meanwhile, declared a half-day to allow its employees to prepare to the community quarantine this coming Sunday. —Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
