City of Dreams Manila temporarily suspends casino operations, hotels and restaurants

City of Dreams Manila has suspended its casino operations amid the Luzon quarantine due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) threat in the country.

In a press release, Melco Resorts and Entertainment Corporation, which controls the City of Dreams, said the temporary closure will take effect at 8 pm on Monday, March 16.

“In these extraordinary times that call for extraordinary measures, we rally behind President Rodrigo Duterte in the actions he has implemented to curb the spread of the Coronavirus," said City of Dreams Manila Chief Operating Officer Kevin Benning.

"We are also one with our industry colleagues who in this time of need have prioritized the safety of our colleagues and guests over economic goals," he added.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) earlier announced the suspension of all gaming operations for the duration of the community quarantine imposed by the government.

Three hotels in the complex, the Nuwa, Nobu, and Hyatt Regency, have suspended operations effective March 18.

City of Dreams management said beneficial schemes will be extended to "affected colleagues to tide them over the period." --MGP, GMA News
