Some Manila barangays on lockdown vs. COVID-19

Zone 4 with eight barangays in the city of Manila was put on lockdown amid the threat of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) transmission, according to Darlene Cay's report on Unang Balita on Thursday.

Barangays 48 to 55 in Tondo were placed on lockdown as some of the residents were not observing home quarantine, local chiefs said.

Residents are not allowed to go outdoors. Only one person per household is allowed to get out of the house to buy food and other essential items. A quarantine pass will be issued to them.

Some streets in Barangays 307 and 308 in Quiapo were also on lockdown.

On Wednesday, a street in Barangay 69 in Tondo was put on lockdown after a resident there reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

Despite the enhanced community quarantine, some tricycle drivers still operate in the city to provide the needs of their families. The city government already vowed to distribute financial assistance to the affected residents. --Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
